So, you want to start a VA business… but do you dare?
Yeah, I know… like most of us, you get to the point where you’ve poked your nose over the ‘virtual’ fence for long enough, and, well… it looks pretty darned good from where you’re standing.
That grass over there is very green indeed.
When it’s all boiled down though, the stark reality is that starting a business takes courage and determination, plus a whole lot of resilience.
And, let’s be honest, beginning your own business after years spent as an employee is a whole new ball game. It’s definitely not impossible by any means, but it’s certainly not a walk in the park.
And, the majority of us are at a distinct disadvantage because we’re generally not taught entrepreneurship at school. Instead, most of us become very institutionalised and seemingly unquestioningly fall into the repetitive cycle of 9 to 5 mediocrity that is doled out to us as our only available option without so much as raising an eyebrow.
It’s what we’re taught to expect…
But I’m here to tell you that there’s so much more available, but only if you’re prepared to step outside the box… to punch through that glass ceiling that holds us back.
But YOU need to take the first step – begin it – otherwise I can tell you with absolute certainty that whatever ‘it’ is, will never happen.
And once you take the first step, the adventure begins, and a whole new world of possibilities open up to you… all because you DARED!
And as you begin, don’t be afraid to reach out for support, but make sure that you seek counsel from those who’ve trodden the path before you… not just once or twice, but many, many times over many years: the ones with 'battle scars' who have tried and failed, gotten back up, dusted themselves off, learned from their mistakes, then tried again and succeeded… they’re the ones who have built longstanding businesses that have become successful. They’re the ones that deliver the true gold!
In the noisy online space where bright shiny objects abound, above ALL ELSE, be discerning.
Look behind the polished façades and bold promises, and remember that building a successful business doesn’t happen overnight… it’s a journey where you’re navigating a lot of stuff you didn’t know that you didn’t know!
Be bold, be brave and believe in the skills you’ve built up over the years.
Spend time investing in your business’s foundations by setting yourself up properly… crossing every ‘t’ and dotting every ‘I’ in the process.
Only then can you confidently step into the unknown with a well-considered plan firmly in mind, and a strategy and direction that will ensure your long-term future success!
